Politics Works: Door-to-Door Campaign Well Received
Team
Tabor may need to invest in some new shoes soon. Many volunteers
from Team Tabor have been out pounding the pavement and working hard
to let voters know about our campaign.
We have started Phase 1 of our grassroots plan. The past four
Saturday's over 125 people have walked in Clemmons, Lewisville,
Kernersville, Mocksville, Taylorsville and parts of Winston-Salem.
With the weather getting better and better, our efforts will
continue to increase.
Liberty University College Republicans spear headed the first walk.
"Over 40 young men and women drove two hours to help with my
campaign. This demonstrates the momentum our campaign is
gaining," said Tabor.
Campaign staff have noted the warm reception at each door step and
the willingness of voters to share their issues with volunteers. The
effort is both informative for the voter and the campaign. Alan
Teitleman, a Tabor staffer, said the efforts have been educational
for him. "I am a young guy in college and I appreciate what
people have shared with me in terms of their experiences and their
expectations. It really gives me a better perspective when you can
talk with people one on one."
The effort is a part of the overall grassroots strategy to win the
5th District Congressional seat. The Tabor grassroots plan calls for
a more "one-on-one" strategy of campaigning and not
relying on the traditional media campaigns that many campaigns are
trying to use. This strategy of campaigning is far less expensive,
but relies more on people being involved in the campaign.
"The largest bit of capital we have had since we began this
campaign is the overwhelming number of volunteers willing to invest
'sweat equity' in our campaign. When you combine that with a
successful fund raising effort, your end product is success,"
said Tabor. "This is how I have been successful in business and
this is how we can bring success to the 5th District, one
relationship at a time."
